Vocational opportunities

AgXtra has sought ways to invest in and develop the next generation of rural workers and agriculturalists. In the early days we were involved in the PICSE program conducted in schools, and developed a working relationship with several High Schools with Agricultural programs, such as Balaklava and Urrbrae.

In 2010 we also commenced an association with the Adelaide University Agricultural Students Association (AUASA). This brought us close to the undergraduate student body at Adelaide University, and opened up opportunities for students to work part time during the academic year, as well as short term, full time roles over semester breaks. In any given season we can have up to 15 students working casually one day per week, and a number of full time roles, particularly over the summer from November to March.
